What the Coaches Say on the "Importance of Transition Play"
Diego Simeone

Diego Simeone

"I am always enthusiastic and when I came, I said I wanted to rediscover the essence of the club: An Atlético team that was always aggressive, intense, competitive, counter-attacking and fast… I think that’s what we’ve been giving.”

This book includes Simeone's Transition Tactics with Sessions on how to practice them.

Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola

"I want my players chasing the ball like (dogs chase) dog bones.”

“You cannot be brilliant when you disappear when you don’t have the ball. It’s impossible. Football is a connection between what you have with the ball and without the ball.”

This book includes Guardiola's Transition Tactics with Sessions on how to practice them.

Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp

"The best moment to win the ball is immediately after your team just lost it.”. Football is about emotion and speed. It’s a transition game“

“If you win the ball back high up the pitch and close to the goal, it is only one pass away a really good opportunity most of the time. No playmaker in the world can be as good as a good counter-pressing situation.”

This book includes Klopp's Transition Tactics with Sessions on how to practice them.

Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho

"Transitions have become crucial. When the opponent is organised defensively it is very difficult to score. The moment the opponent loses the ball can be the time to exploit the opportunity of someone being out of position. Similarly when we lose the ball we must react immediately.”

“Everybody says that set plays win most games but I think it is more about transitions.”

This book includes Mourinho's Transition Tactics with Sessions on how to practice them.

Claudio Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri

"Today, some complain that Leicester lose too many balls. But that's only natural, when your team plays at the speed of light.“

“I give my strikers freedom to attack and cut across the lines, as long as we immediately return to a 4-4-2 as soon as the ball is lost.”

This book includes Ranieri's Transition Tactics with Sessions on how to practice them.

Coaching the Juventus 3-5-2
Tactical Analysis and Sessions:
Attacking and Defending (Set)

This long awaited books in FULL COLOUR contains a full and extensive analysis of the most successful team using the 3-5-2 formation in modern football. This tactical blueprint is explained clearly with supporting diagrams, notes and detailed descriptions.

Juventus have won 4 consecutive Serie A league titles (2012-2015) which included an incredible 49 game unbeaten run. They scored 291 goals (1.91 per match), kept 80 clean sheets in 152 games, conceding just 91 goals (0.59 per match) with a total win percentage of 72%. During this time they also won the Coppa Italia and reached the Champions League final in 2014.

THE SUCCESS OF JUVENTUS USING THE 3-5-2

Juventus are a very successful attacking and defneding team, when attacking they focus on exploiting their numerical advantage at the back, patient build up play, pushing many players into advanced positions and finally creating and exploiting space in behind the defensive line.
When defending they focus on maintaining a numerical advantage at the back, pressing to force the ball wide, tightly marking all potential receivers, keeping a compact formation and blocking through passes.

There are 105 tactical analysis topics which have been used to produce 33 sessions (104 practices) including functional practices, opposed/unopposed zone play, game situations, transition games and small sided games.

This will enable you to coach your team to attack like one of the most successful teams in Europe.

I played for several teams in Greek professional leagues. At the age of 29 stopped playing and focused on studying football coaching. I have been head coach of several semi-pro football teams in Greece and worked as a technical director in the Academies of DOXA Dramas (Greek football league, 2nd division).

I have written 6 books including: FC Barcelona: A Tactical Analysis - Attacking and Defending. (English, Spanish, Japanese & Korean),
and Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid: A Tactical Analysis - Attacking and Defending . (English & Japanese)

Analysing games tactically is a great love and strength of mine. I think teams have success only when they prepare well tactically.

I have watched Barcelona in most of their league and Champions league matches for the last seven years and less frequently over the past twenty years. I believe that this Barcelona side is by far the best Barcelona I have ever seen in regards to their attractive style of play and success in becoming the best football side in the world.

I have analysed Barcelona’s tactics for this book, which together with the teams’ incredible technical ability allows Barca to perform their attractive brand of football. I have now decided to use my tactical analysis to produce ready made sessions for coaches to train their teams the ‘Barca way.’

This book contains tactical and technical exercises that have been formulated from the tactical situations which are presented in my previous book ‘ FC Barcelona: A Tactical Analysis ’. We analyse deeply how and why Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona, possibly the best team of all time, used their specific tactics in different situations.

We provide a training session for each tactical situation with progressive exercises. We produce a guide for how coaches can train the tactics used by F.C. Barcelona.

My dream is to use my skills at the professional level.

All of the practices are are presented with clear simple to understand diagrams supported with objective, description, coaching points and variations/progressions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you Learn how to coach your team to play like 'Barca Way' with 160 practices organised into 34 ready-made sessions

Jed Davies outlines in detail the Tiki-Taka football philosophy popularised by Barcelona and Spain and shows you, the coach, how to implement this style of play. Davies has studied the methods used at FC Barcelona, Liverpool FC, Swansea City FC, Villarreal CF and AFC Ajax who have all developed possession based philosophies as a way of controlling and winning games.

Part 1 explores the development theory that requires an understanding before you are able to produce the Tiki-Taka style of football, this includes: Establishing a Football Philosophy, Identifying Local Talent and Purposeful Training.

Part 2 looks at the Tiki-Taka philosophy and how it can be developed through purpose designed training sessions. 50 practices are provided from professional clubs including FC Barcelona, AFC Ajax, Athletic Bilbao and Liverpool FC.

Tactical Problem 1: Struggling to Control Possession and Build up from the Back from a Goal Kick.
Playing From The Defence Through To The Midfield.
Tactical Problem 2: The opposition are sitting in a deep low block (also known as “Parking the Bus”) and it has become increasingly difficult to find spaces to penetrate further forward
    ‘The False Touch’ – Example
Tactical Problem 3: The profile of players available to you make it increasingly difficult to control the games through the theoretical 4-3-3 (3-4-3) and requires a positional system that still provides the options both in attack and to play out from the back
Tactical Problem 4: You have set your midfield up with 2 controllers and 1 number 10 further forward.
Your team have a lot of possession but are struggling to play passes forward and control
    possession in the final third
Tactical Problem 5: You find that your defensive line is too slow to play with the high line necessary for the theoretical system of play and is suffering under the pressure of quicker strikers

    Meet the Author
    Jed C. Davies

    Jed C. Davies

Jed is the assistant manager and head of analysis for Oxford University Centaurs and has worked with various youth players throughout Europe.

He has studied the methods used at FC Barcelona, Liverpool FC, Swansea FC, Villarreal CF, AFC Ajax and a number of teams developing a particular fascination with the possession based philosophies in football as a way of controlling and winning games.

Tiki-Taka football is a style of football popularised by Spain and Barcelona during the decade ending 2010 and is part of a philosophy in football that has existed right from the game’s very beginnings: a way of controlling the game through possession and positional systems.

Jed Davies has been fortunate enough to speak in great lengths with a number of coaches who work at the clubs who currently advocate the possession based philosophy and in doing so, has developed a clear understanding of what the tiki-taka philosophy is and how it can be developed through purpose designed training sessions.

A train of thought has been developed that football that is played in this way is developed through it’s ‘form’: positional systems, attitudes to building up possession etc. Davies therefore has proposed that football tactics should be designed around the dictum “form follows process”, a way of perfect football within an adaptive structure where the structure and positional system is the agent of change, rather than the players themselves.

All of the practices are are presented with clear simple to understand diagrams supported with objective, description, coaching points and variations/progressions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you Learn how to coach your team to the 'TIKI-TAKA' style of play just like FC Barcelona and Ajax!

    Michail Tsokaktsidis

    Michail Tsokaktsidis

  • UEFA 'A' coaching licence

  • Bachelor Degree in Physical Education, specialising in Soccer Conditioning.
  • I am 38 years old and started playing football at the age of 10 for F.C Doxa Dramas in Greece. I played in all the age levels before progressing to the first team when I was 19 years old. I played for 10 years as a professional at all levels of Greek football for the following teams: Doxa Dramas, Iltex Likoi (WOLVES), Agrotikos Asteras, Ethnikos K., Pandramaikos and Olimpiakos Volou.

During my career I won 6 championships with 5 different teams. At the age of 29 I stopped playing and completed my studies in fitness conditioning and football coaching. I was also a student of the UEFA coaching schools (H.F.F in Greece) and I am a fully certified UEFA A’ licence coach.

I started my coaching career in youth football for 3 years and for the last 4 years I have been a head coach in 3 different semi-professional teams in Greece (winning 2 championships). The aim is to develop young players to be professional footballers. My desire is to work at a higher level elsewhere in Europe. Football is my main focus in life and I have a deep passion for coaching. From very early I was interested in studying training methods as well as to observe and analyse how they are successfully applied (in all phases of the game).

I love to learn from the great and successful teams who help to evolve the game. For my first book I wanted to use my skills to create great content for coaches all over the world to improve their training sessions. I decided to analyse a team coached by one of the most successful coaches in the last 10 years, Jose Mourinho.

The season in which all these goals were scored was 2011- 2012 when Jose lead Real Madrid to the Spanish championship (La Liga). I think this is a book which provides content that has not been produced before. We have combined a comprehensive analysis of the phases of play which lead to goals with training exercises that can be used for coaches to train the 4-2-3-1.
    1. We analyse Jose Mourinho’s tactics and the phases of play which lead to Real Madrid’s best goals and how to recognise and find solutions against different opposition’s formations and tactical situations.
    2. We created specific practices to train how to apply the same objectives to your team and achieve the same results.

In life, I believe it is not what you own that matters, but what you create. So I have decided to make this book. My favourite motto is ‘You can always do much more.’

All of the practices are are presented with clear simple to understand diagrams supported with objective, description, coaching points and variations/progressions.

    Meet the Author

    Michail Tsokaktsidis

    Michail Tsokaktsidis

  • UEFA 'A' coaching licence

  • Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and Sports Science, specialising in Soccer Conditioning.
  • I am 39 years old and started playing football at the age of 10 for F.C Doxa Dramas in Greece.

For my second book of the series, I wanted to use my skills to create great content for coaches all over the world to improve their training sessions. I decided to analyse the most successful national team in recent years, Spain. They are a team which play attractive, but also effective football and have
conquered all before them. The period in which all these goals were scored was 2008-2012 (official competitive games) when Spain won Euro 2008, the World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012.

I think this is a book which provides content that has not been produced before. We have combined a comprehensive analysis of the phases of play which lead to goals with training exercises that can be used for coaches to train the same tactical situations used with many formations such as the 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-1-4-1 and 4-2-3-1.

    1. We analyse Spain’s tactics and the phases of play which lead to their best goals and work on how to recognise and find solutions against different opposition’s formations and various tactical situations.
    2. We created specific practices to train how to apply the same objectives to your team and achieve the same results.

In life, I believe it is not what you own that matters, but what you create. So I have decided to make this series of books. My favourite motto is ‘You can always do much more.’

All of the practices are are presented with clear simple to understand diagrams supported with objective, description, coaching points and variations/progressions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you Learn how to coach your team to play like " the best national side in the world" with 140 practices organised into 31 ready-made sessions
